Rooted in Science; Guided by Yoga
The Svara Shala Philosophy
At Svara Shala, we view yoga as a holistic practice that nurtures the body, mind, and inner awareness. Rooted in science and guided by yoga, our approach combines evidence-informed understanding of the body and mind with traditional yogic practices and the therapeutic use of sound. The result is a practice that is both grounding and transformative, where movement, stillness, and sound work together as complementary pathways toward balance, clarity, and presence.
Students can learn at their own pace—through focused individual yoga sessions, dedicated sound therapy, or by exploring both disciplines together. This integrated approach supports physical alignment, strength, and flexibility while cultivating mental steadiness, emotional resilience, and a deeper sense of inner calm.
Svara Shala is led by an experienced Yoga Alliance* registered teacher with extensive training and practical experience in yoga, meditation and Sound healing. Her teaching experience includes supporting individuals during chemotherapy and recovery, as well as guiding students seeking improved sleep quality, pain relief, and healthy weight balance through yoga and sound-based practices.
All yoga and sound sessions at Svara Shala are designed to support overall well-being and are not a substitute for medical care. Participants are encouraged to consult a qualified healthcare professional for individual health concerns.
Grounded in authentic teaching traditions and practical experience, Svara Shala offers a purposeful path to well-being, inner harmony, and self-awareness.

Prāṇāyāma — The Science of Regulating Prāṇa
At Svara Shala, prāṇāyāma is an integral part of practice, rooted in classical yogic texts and refined through mindful application. Prāṇāyāma refers to the conscious regulation and expansion of prāṇa—the vital life force that animates the body and mind.
Through specific techniques involving breath rhythm, depth, pauses, and awareness, prāṇāyāma influences the nervous system, balances internal energy, and prepares the practitioner for deeper states of meditation.
Practiced correctly, prāṇāyāma becomes a tool for self-regulation, resilience, and inner stillness, aligning breath, body, and consciousness into a unified experience.

Sonika Kataria
Yoga entered my life very early on, long before I understood its depth or significance. While this early exposure planted the seed, it was much later in life that I felt a clear calling to pursue yoga as a disciplined path of learning and teaching. My formal yoga journey began in India, where I completed my 200 and 500 Hours Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) certification, grounding my practice in the traditional roots of yoga.
A defining chapter of this journey unfolded in Tabo, India, situated at an altitude of 10,000 feet and home to one of the world’s oldest monasteries. There, I experienced the transformative depth of meditation under the guidance of my Guru. During this period of focused practice, Tibetan singing bowls were consistently used to guide us into meditative states. The resonance of sound gently drew the mind inward, creating a profound sense of stillness and spacious awareness that left a lasting impression on me.
This immersion deepened my understanding of stillness, awareness, and the meditative dimensions of yoga. Recognizing sound as a bridge to silence, I felt drawn to pursue formal training in sound therapy, allowing this deeply settled state of awareness to be shared with others.
Today, I guide students through integrated yoga practice, breath-centered meditation, and sound-based therapeutic experiences that support clarity, balance, and inner calm. My teaching blends traditional Hatha and Ashtanga yoga with mindful breath awareness and the resonant vibrations of Tibetan singing bowls, offering students of all levels a grounded path toward balance and inner stillness.
